Kamala Harris became a lawyer, politician and the 32nd Attorney General of California.
Her mother was a prominent breast cancer researcher and her father was a Stanford University economics professor. They divorced when she was 7.
At age 12 she moved with her mother to Montreal, Québec, Canada; and in 1981 graduated from Westmont High School, Quebec. She then attended Howard University in Washington D.C. and majored in political science and economics.
In the 1990s, she worked in the San Francisco District Attorney’s office and the office of the City Attorney of San Francisco.
In 2004, Harris was elected District attorney of San Francisco and served from 2004 to 2011; and in 2008, she was seen as one of a number of women who could become president of the United States.
In 2009, she published Smart on Crime: A Career Prosecutor’s Plan to Make Us Safer.
In 2010 and 2014 she was elected California’s Attorney General and served from 2011 to 2017. In 2016 she ran in the Senate election and on November 8, 2016 became California’s third female senator.
On January 21, 2019, she officially announced her campaign to run for the Democratic nomination for US President in the 2020 United States presidential election vowing to fight for the ‘largest middle class tax cut in a generation.’ (Saturn in her chart – the planet of cuts – is the cusp ruler of house 8 [taxes]).
