His chart’s astrodyne report
His dominant planet-key decanate profile
Mars – his dominant planet – is in Aquarius – I know. It’s in the second decanate – inspiration – and he’s altruistic and versatile but very prone to argue and make change. Pegasus is his dominant decanate. Mars is conjunction Saturn (his worst planet) and Venus.
Mars – his desire for aggressive action, enterprise and excitement – defines his outstanding bias. It’s in house 10 (business, honor/dishonor) and its conjunction with Saturn brings safety, security, buying, trading, secrecy, selfishness and loss into prominence.
His life story is defined by strife, conflict, construction, destruction, haste and energized effort.
Sun – his individuality – is in Pisces – I believe. It’s in the second decanate – self-sacrifice – and his deep seated need to serve others can be hemmed in by restraint and restriction. Sympathy is his outstanding quality, but he’s very prone to worry and touchiness. (The Sun is sextile the Uranus-Neptune conjunction.)
Moon – his mentality – is also in Pisces. It’s in the third decanate – vicissitudes – and his need for excitement (Mars) ensures an eventful life with lots of change and uncertainty. Moon is prominent so he’s very impressionable.
Mercury and Uranus – the intellectual planets – are both weak and non-prominent so his feelings (Moon) and beliefs (Pisces) guide his actions.
Ascendant – his personality – is in Taurus – I have. It’s in the third decanate – mastership – and he can use practical-material means (money) to attain spiritual goals. The ascendant in Auriga is discordant so he can be obstinate and deceitful.
Mars, Moon, Saturn, Venus and Pluto are prominent.
Jupiter is retrograde indicating his religious urge and feelings may be repressed. It’s his weakest planet. Mercury turned retrograde in June 2003.
His story
Samuel Bankman-Fried aka SBF became an entrepreneur and investor: the disgraced founder and CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange FTX and associated trading firm Alameda Research.
His parents, Barbara Fried and Joseph Bankman, are professors at Stanford Law School.
He attended high school at Crystal Springs Uplands School in Hillsborough, California and graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2014 with a bachelor's degree in physics and a minor in mathematics.
In the summer of 2013 SBF worked as an intern at Jane Street Capital, a proprietary trading firm, and worked there full-time after graduating from MIT.
In September 2017 he left Jane Street and moved to Berkeley, California, where he worked at the Centre for Effective Altruism as director of development in October-November 2017.
In November 2017 he co-founds Alameda Research, a quantitative trading firm, with Tara MacAulay; and in 2018, after attending a cryptocurrency conference in Macau, he moves to Hong Kong.
In May 2019 he and former Google employee Gary Wang found FTX as a new platform to trade crypto tokens and derivatives.
In October 2021 FTX raises $420m in venture funding, valuing the company at $25bn, and Bankman-Fried, with an estimated net (financial) worth of $26bn, is ranked the 41st richest American in the Forbes 400 and the 60th richest person in world by The World’s Billionaires.
On November 2, 2022 crypto news website CoinDesk publishes a leaked Alameda Research balance sheet showing that much of its $14.6bn in assets is held in FTX’s own token, called FTT.
The token subsequently sheds about $400m of its market capital, and rival exchange Binance says it will sell its FTT holdings. Over the next three days customers withdraw $6bn from FTX.
On November 11, 2022 FTX files for US bankruptcy protections and Bankman-Fried resigns as its CEO. His net worth is zero.
On December 12, 2022 he’s arrested in The Bahamas where FTX is based and he lives. The US Attorney’s Office in Manhattan later confirms that a federal grand jury had indicted him for fraud and conspiracy charges.
On December 21, 2022 he’s extradited to the US. While in the air, prosecutors reveal that Gary Wang and Alameda chief executive Caroline Ellison have pleaded guilty and agree to cooperate with prosecutors.
On December 22, 2022 Bankman-Fried makes an initial appearance in Manhattan federal court and is released to home detention at his parents’ home in Palo Alto, California, on a $250m bond.
On January 3, 2023 he pleads not guilty to criminal charges that he cheated investors in his now-bankrupt FTX cryptocurrency exchange and caused billions of dollars in losses, in what prosecutors called an ‘epic’ fraud.
US District Judge Lewis Kaplan schedules his trial for October, 2023.
On February 28, 2023 Nishad Singh, the former director of engineering at FTX, becomes the third former member of his inner circle to plead guilty to fraud charges and agrees to cooperate with prosecutors.
On August 11, 2023 Judge Kaplan revokes Bankman-Fried’s bail after finding probable cause to believe he tampered with witnesses at least twice. He’s remanded to Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center pending trial.
On October 3, 2023 the trial starts in Manhattan, New York. It’s expected to last 6 weeks.
(The dominant Mars-Saturn thought-cell activity in his unconscious mind – mapped by the Mars-Saturn conjunction in his birth chart – has taken his life on a wild ride.)
