Her chart’s astrodyne report
Her dominant planet–key decanate profile
Mercury, Muthana’s dominant planet, is in the third decanate of Libra so the special feature of her I balance mental activity and way of communicating is her mental brilliance; but if she doesn’t resist the temptation to live a double life and pull the wool over the eyes of her family and friends she’ll make a fatal mistake and suffer personal tragedy and expiation.
Mercury – the planet of controversy – in house 7 (war, marriage and law suits) is the worst planet in her chart. It forms high-discord obstacle (square) aspects with Uranus – planet of extremism – and Neptune – planet of deception and lies – in house 11 (friends).
Mercury’s discord inclines towards making horrible decisions and actions that stir up controversy. She’s a controversial figure.
Scorpio, the dominant sign, is high in harmony so she’s energetic, determined and skilful and with the Sun in the first decanate her I desire individuality is more precisely defined by resourcefulness. But her fanatical sense of duty and strong sex drive, unless harnessed to a constructive, creative endeavor, will cause her trouble.
The Moon is conjunction Mars (war and bloodshed) in the second decanate of Leo so her I will mentality can detect faults in the world’s political and religious systems and she has the courage to engage in the reformation process, but she’ll experience major problems if she spreads misinformation or makes false claims. The influence of this decanate is outstanding.
And with the ascendant conjunction Saturn in the first decanate of Pisces her I believe personality is defined by verity and she’s going to rely on her psychic faculties (rather than her reasoning – Mercury – skills) when discerning personal truth. But Saturn – the planet of fear, worry, despair and hardship – in house 12 signs for self-undoing, heavy restrictions and crafty secret enemies.
The primary trend of her life story is defined by events involving house 7 (marriage, war and law suits), house 8 (death), house 9 (overseas countries and religion), house 11 (friends) and house 12 (self-undoing, secret sorrows, aloneness, isolation and detention).
Her story
Hoda Muthana is an American born ISIS bride who travelled to Syria to join the Islamic State Caliphate in November 2014 using funds (house 8) her parents had provided for her college tuition.
In an interview with the New York Times she claimed that on her arrival in Syria she was forced to surrender her cell phone and confined to locked barracks (house 12) where she was held as a potential bride (Mercury in house 7) for jihadi fighters.
She married (house 7) Suhan Rahman, an Australian jihadist in December 2014. He was killed (house 8) in March 2015. She then married a Tunisian fighter and gave birth to a son (house 5). Her second husband was killed in 2017.
She fled (Saturn) from Raqqa to Mayadin and, finally, to Shafa in eastern Syria. She then remarried and divorced. At this time food was so scarce (Saturn) that she was reduced to boiling grass for nourishment (Moon conjunction Mars in house 6).
On January 10, 2019 she escaped from Shafa and surrendered to American troops (Mars in house 6). She requested to be returned to America and she and her son are currently being held in a Kurdish refugee camp (house 12) in Syria.
In an interview with Buzzfeed in 2015 her father (Mercury and house 4) said that he gave his daughter a cell phone and she created a twitter account that he knew nothing about which eventually gained thousands of followers (house 11). And an anonymous friend (house 11) claimed there was a gulf between Muthana’s real self and the more radical persona (Uranus) she adopted on Twitter.
On February 20, 2019 President Trump instructed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to not allow her back into the country.
Pompeo released a press statement saying: “Ms. Hoda Muthana is not a U.S. citizen.”
On February 21, 2019, Muthana’s father, Ahmed Ali Muthana (Mercury and house 4), filed an emergency lawsuit, asking the federal government to affirm her citizenship and allow her to return to the United States.
The lawsuit emphasizes that she is not arguing against any prosecution from the U.S. government over her actions in Syria, but wants lawful recognition of her U.S. citizenship and the citizenship of her 18-month old son.
The lawsuits statement said that Ms Muthana has “publicly acknowledged her actions and accepted full responsibility” and in her own words “she recognizes that she has ‘ruined’ her own life, but does not want to ruin the life of her young child.”
In a statement to CNN, she wrote she was a “naive, angry and arrogant young woman” when she left the US in 2014. And that…“during my years in Syria I would see and experience a way of life and the terrible effects of war which changed me. Seeing bloodshed (Moon conjunction Mars) up close changed me. Motherhood changed me. Seeing friends (house 11), children, and the men I married (house 7) dying (house 8) changed me.”
