Discord in global astrology
Here on Earth, aka the physical plane, the atmosphere is saturated with Mars and Saturn astral energy. Their aggression, self-interest antagonism, hostility, fear, prejudices and bigotry is chiefly concerned with personal survival.
In global astrology discordant in-sky and cycle chart aspects forecast trouble. It could be an outbreak of hostilities, a destructive storm, a breakdown in trade negotiations, a setback to a proposed plan or difficult economic conditions. Whatever … the astrological discord is having an adverse impact on someone, somewhere on planet Earth.
In the current Jupiter cycle – end date is February 5, 2034 – Jupiter (the planet of finances) is opposition Moon (the common, everyday people) and this high discord separation aspect is adversely impacting every country causing financial troubles specified by the house positions of Jupiter and the Moon in their Jupiter cycle charts. Someone somewhere is struggling with a cost of living crisis and a lack of purchasing power is constraining economic growth.
And in the current Pluto cycle – end date is March 2109 – Pluto (the planet of inversion, misinformation and division) is square Mercury (the science and education agenda and the press) and this high-discord obstacle aspect is adversely impacting every country causing division, disunity and information warfare specified by the house positions of Pluto and Mercury in their Pluto cycle charts. Someone somewhere is receiving and spreading misinformation and creating division.
Mars, the human volcano, serves up a rich diet of animosity and violence. It’s into brute-force, torture, brutality, cruelty, cut-throat competition, gamboling, booze and capital punishment; and its in-sky and cycle chart aspects incline towards conflict, disputation, missile strikes, violence, accidents and fires.
Saturn, the conservative, traditionalist, can always find a good reason to put the brakes on social progress. It serves up a rich diet of fear, grief, suffering and despair. It’s into self-interest, fear-mongering, the status quo, rear-vision thinking, materialism, greed and looking out for #1; and its in-sky and cycle chart aspects inclined towards economic hardship, conservative social developments, disease outbreaks, natural disasters, earthquakes, hurricanes, storms and floods.
It’s estimated that Mars and Saturn cause one quarter and one half of all the trouble here on Earth and judging by the volume of Mars and Saturn events that receive media coverage these estimates are accurate.
Conflict and violence receive a huge amount of coverage and the pictures coming out of the conflict zones show the destructiveness of Mars as its high-discord in-sky and cycle chart aspects write the script for human actors to perform.
But Saturn is inflicting the most trouble. For every person who is killed by a gun, bomb or missile or dies in an accident or fire there’s a grieving child, parent, relative or friend. Saturn’s suffering exponentially increases in response to the discord associated with Mars.
When Mars escalates the hostilities, Saturn escalates the suffering. In the conflict zones both the combatants and civilians suffer long term post traumatic stress, aka shell-shock, as horrific memories, aka nightmares, and panic attacks continually recur long after the fighting has stopped.
And climate change with its destructive weather events causes major trouble as storms and floods destroy and damage homes and crops. Hard working people lose everything and farmers lose their livelihoods.
Discord and you
Hermetic astrology takes the concept of discord very seriously and it’s aware the concept is strictly Hermetic astrology. No one presents or teaches it as an astrological or other concept and it’s aware that you could find it quite a challenge.

Discord is associated with pain, discomfort, misfortune and adversity so it’s in your best interest to know its role in life and how it’s likely to impact you by referencing your birth chart.
