The 2020 astrological year commenced March 20, 2020 at 3.49.35am GMT; and a country’s Sun cycle chart will operate in an environmental setting that’s defined by what’s happening here and now.
Sun cycle fact sheet
On March 20, 2020 humanity is confronted by covid-19 – a global health emergency; the climate change crisis; escalating fighting in Syria; a humanitarian crisis in Idlib; a refugee crisis; a hate pandemic; and the US presidential election. The scene is set for a troublesome and difficult year.

The outstanding aspects in the 2020 Sun cycle chart
Sun is semisquare (discordant friction) Moon (the common people, food and water); semisquare (discordant friction) Venus (socializing, women and women’s issues); and sextile (harmonious opportunity) Saturn (precautionary measures, disease, economy, cost-cutting, work and loss).

Aquarius 2020: Covid-19
In mid-December 2019 a cluster of pneumonia cases of unknown cause was reported in Wuhan, China; on January 30, 2020 the World Health Organization declared a public health emergency; and on February 11 the disease was officially named covid-19.
During February 2020 covid-19 spread rapidly around the globe as country after country reported their first cases. By March 8 the disease was in 90 countries with more than 100,000 cases reported and over 3,200 deaths.
A pandemic (Saturn) had not been declared but with hundreds of undetected people circulating with the virus a runaway epidemic seems likely. Experts estimated that 25-70% of a country’s population may be infected and that covid-19 may be five or ten times as lethal as seasonal flu.
Economic policy makers (Saturn) were confronted by the threat of disease and a lack of knowledge regarding its potential impact. In March 2020 covid-19 had infected the world’s financial system and the world economy (Jupiter and Saturn) was in harm’s way.
But what happens isn’t wholly defined by the planets in astrology. Governments, health officials and scientists have a key role to play in what eventuates; and in March 2020 governments (Sun) around the globe were gearing up to deal with the public health crisis and scientists (Mercury) were working to find a vaccine.
Jupiter was hoping for the best; Saturn was preparing for the worst; Mars had everyone racing; Saturn had everyone scared; and Pluto was taking drastic action.
Schools and universities were closing; major conferences and sporting events were being cancelled; travel restrictions were adversely impacting tourism and airlines (Neptune); Twitter told its staff in Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea to work from home; and restaurants in China were facing economic ruin. Would the Olympics in July 2020 go ahead and if they did would anyone attend?
Poor countries were especially vulnerable and political incompetence could make matters worse. It raised the issue of the role of politics in dealing with health emergencies; and in 2020 trust and confidence in governments is lower than low. Are you confident that your country’s leader can effectively manage the covid-19 health emergency?

Astrology won’t give you a precise account of what’s in store. It doesn’t directly intervene in global affairs. It operates through human actors who respond to events and make decisions. But it does allow you to track the central astro-events that will define the trendline of the 2020 covid-19 health emergency here on Earth.
