A Google search to find out when the Age of Aquarius started or will start provides the curious searcher with a spectacular amount of ignorance, guesswork and astrological nonsense.
The question: ‘When did the Age of Aquarius start’ is answered with an emphatic: February 4, 1962 (no time given.) That’s the guess by Gnostic philosopher Samael Aun Weor who reckons that the start of the Aquarian Age ‘was heralded by the alignment of the first six planets, the Sun, the Moon and the constellation Aquarius’.
The question: ‘Start date of the Age of Aquarius’ is answered with: ‘The exact starting date of this new age is up for debate. Some astrologers suggest it starts on the vernal equinox on March 20, 2021 in the northern hemisphere, while others focus on the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction in Aquarius that occurred in December 2020.’ Both dates are obviously wild guesses.
Three things are not up for debate. (1) Those who acknowledge that the astrological ages are timed by the movement of the vernal equinox all refer to its position in regard to the constellations, not the zodiac signs; (2) most seem to think that the constellations are the zodiac signs; and (3) most start dates are just guesses based on personal opinion.
An article ‘When does the Age of Aquarius begin?’ on the EXPRESS website provides the inquisitive searcher with food for thought.
Sean Martin wrote: ‘The Age of Aquarius begins when the vernal equinox point – the background constellation the Sun is in front of from Earth’s perspective – moves from Pisces to Aquarius.
There are 12 constellations, and it takes the Sun 25,800 years to complete a full cycle. That equates to a new constellation, or age in astrological terms, on average every 2,150 years.
According to the International Astronomical Union (IAU), which set the constellation boundaries in the 1930s, the Sun moved into the constellation Pisces around 1,800 years ago. By the IAU’s reckoning, the Age of Aquarius will begin in the year 2597.
However, astrologers are not so adamant about the boundaries of the constellations. The IAU made all of the constellations’ boundaries different in size. Astrologers on the other hand divided the constellations into 12 equal pieces.
However, according to EarthSky astronomers, to determine when exactly the Age of Aquarius begins, you need to know when the Age of Pisces began, by astrological standards. For that, there is no clear answer as there are no records for it.
British astrologer Nicholas Campion believes the Age of Aquarius begins sometime between 1447 AD to 3597 AD. However, other astrologers believe the Age of Aquarius began in 2012.
Presuming equal-sized constellations in antiquity, that places the border of the constellations Pisces and Aquarius at 150 degrees west of Regulus, or at the March equinox point. By this reckoning, the Age of Aquarius started in 2012.’
This EXPRESS article contained information that originally appeared in an article on EarthSky, an award winning very popular astronomy website founded in 1991 that had 21 million users in 2019 according to Google Analytics.
Its article, ‘When will the Age of Aquarius begin?’ by Bruce McClure and Deborah Byrd published January 8, 2021, tries hard to answer the tricky question. And after providing detailed explanations in regard to various matters relevant to the great mystery the authors conclude:
‘Bottom line: The Age of Aquarius begins when the March equinox point moves out of the constellation Pisces and into the constellation Aquarius. But there’s no definitive answer as to when that will be.’
So, like everyone else they’re starting with a wrong premise and barking up the wrong tree.
There are various data sources that indicate the equinox would back into the zodiac sign Aquarius in 1881 and the Age of Aquarius would begin when the Sun by transit entered the sign Aquarius at 8.56.24 pm GMT, January 19, 1881.
