In a perfect world your birth chart would be calculated for the time you took your first breath, but it’s not a perfect world.
Your birth certificate records a time that was noted by someone who attended your birth.
You won’t know its level of inaccuracy – it could be within seconds or minutes – so your birth time might be accurate but it won’t be precise.
Your birth time plays a crucial role in the construction of your birth chart and the chart’s layout directly determines the reliability of the astro-data it contains.
An accurate birth time calculates a chart that provides reliable data. But, as the inaccuracy of your birth data increases the reliability of the chart data decreases.
The data provided by a chart calculated for an approximate birth time cannot be considered reliable.
So the reliability of the astro-data provided by your birth chart is directly related to the accuracy of your birth data – in particular your birth time – and you should rate and know your chart’s level of accuracy.
Rate your chart data
AA-1 – a recorded birth time that ends in a 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 or 9 number of minutes is given this rating. The AA-1 indicates the recorded birth time has a 1 minute margin of error. The chart isn’t precise but in most instances can be relied upon to provide very reliable data.
AA-2 – a recorded birth time that ends in a 5, 10, 20, 25, 35, 40, 50 or 55 number of minutes is given this rating. The AA-2 indicates that the recorded birth time has a 2 minute margin of error which may compromise the reliability of the chart and its data.
AA-3 – a recorded birth time that ends in a 15 or 45 number of minutes is given this rating. The AA-3 indicates that the recorded birth time has a 3 minute margin of error. Some rounding-off of the birth time may have occurred and this could compromise the reliability of the chart and its data.
AA-5 – a recorded birth time that occurs on the half hour – the 30 minute mark – is given this rating. The AA-5 indicates that the recorded birth time has a 5 minute margin of error. Some rounding-off of the birth time may have occurred and this could compromise the reliability of the chart and its data.
AA-7 – a recorded birth time that occurs on the hour – any hour of the day – is given this rating. The AA-7 indicates that the recorded birth time has a 7 minute margin of error. Some rounding-off of the birth time may have occurred and this could compromise the reliability of the chart and its data.
