For 25 years I have been conducting astrological classes free to the public each week; and astrologers who were the advocates of both the older and newer systems have come to these meetings and tried their hand at predicting, from given birth-data, just what happened on a given date. I believe, therefore, after observing for 25 years the results obtained by those who follow various rules, methods and systems, that I am in a position to judge rather well what can be expected from the various systems on offer.
And in my forty years of astrological study one thing has struck me rather forcibly, and that is the prevalence of confusing what rightly belongs to ESP precognition with the principles of scientific astrology.
An event seen in the future through ESP is often perceived, in much detail, as a specific event viewed amid definite surroundings, all of which may be verified when it comes to pass.
Looking on the astral plane at the projection of world-lines, the imagination is often able to build a picture of a future event, with all its trimmings, which later is found to be a replica of that which actually happens.
But natal astrology is in a quite different category. Instead of looking down world-lines and projecting them into the future, you must start with your character factors mapped by planetary positions at birth, and then consider what environmental forces have impinged upon and modified your character in the past, and what forces will be brought to bear upon your modified character at a certain period in the future; and from the interaction between your character and these forces estimate what conditions and events will enter your life during a given period.
By natal astrology you do not see events; you merely have a map of your character tendencies and a map of forces which are brought to play upon them; and from these you must deduce what will probably happen.
When assessing the probable events in your life by natal astrology, the conclusions reached are attained through a careful weighing of the probable influence of forces, past, present and future, upon your character not ESP.
Nor are these forces, which you must consider, exclusively planetary. Your physical environment in the past has offered, and in the present and future will offer, a definite resistance to events of a specific character.
The resistance to a certain event in a specific category (house) or to other events in the same category may be great, and the resistance to other specific events in the same category may be small. Or the resistance to all events in a certain category may be very great or very small.
The astro-physical interaction diagram has been designed to facilitate the assessment of future events and conditions. Each letter stands for a specific factor and details the assessment sequence you should follow.
In the diagram (A) represents your birth chart; (B) your conditioning since birth; (C) the progressed aspect being considered; (D) the other progressed aspects also in operation at the time; (E) the resistance offered by your physical outer-world environment; (G) your evolutionary level (not mapped in your chart) and (F) your efforts at control based upon your knowledge of progressed aspects (not mapped in your chart.)
In all problems relating to the events which come into your life – including the practice of a given vocation – each of the 7 factors should receive attention as playing a significant part. However, in the selection of a vocation (G) is of no significance, and (F) is equally significant in all vocations.
The astro-physical interaction diagram shows seven factors each of which may play a significant part in determining the specific event which comes into your life.
Yet one, (F) effort at control based on your knowledge of progressed aspects, can only play a significant part through altering one of the three factors involved in every event: the planetary energy received by your thought-cells, the desires of your thought-cells, and your environment.
The planetary energies reaching your thought-cells, which operate indirectly, can be manipulated through rallying forces*. Your thought-cells can further be trained through conditioning (B); and your physical environment (E) can be manipulated.
But whether deliberate effort at control is attempted or not, both (B) and (E) commonly play significant parts. Not only in reference to the house rulership of the event attracted, and its specific nature, but also relative to its importance (I) and its fortune (F) or misfortune.
In regard to (E) it should be apparent that a farmer with growing crops has environmental facilities for being influenced by Saturn through the weather; that if an individual has no money or property the facilities for financial loss under an affliction to the ruler of house 2 are much less than if he has money invested in some business or speculation; that the individual following a hazardous occupation provides facilities for Mars energies to attract accident; that a person handling drugs or chemicals affords facilities for afflictions to Neptune to attract poisoning; that one who writes or signs papers affords facilities for the Mercury thought-cells to attract events; or that contact with a psychologist affords facilities for some of the events that the Uranus thought-cells may attract.
Furthermore, if you are already married, the environmental facilities oppose another marriage, whatever the progressed aspects may be, until you have first obtained a divorce. If you are not married, the facilities for a divorce are lacking. If your parents are deceased, no progressed aspect can bring the death of a parent.
*Rally forces are major sources of harmony. They’re harmonious factors in your birth chart, or progressed chart. A grand trine, if you have one, is a rallying force and while you stay tuned in on the thoughts and feelings ruled by the three planets, and the affairs of the houses where they are located, you’ll feel pleasure and attract fortunate events.
A conciliating planet, if you have one, is a harmonious rally force and a major source of pleasure. While you engage in its thinking and focus on the life-matters ruled by the house it occupies you’ll experience fortunate events.
Your best planet, best sign, best aspect and best house are all rallying forces. They indicate thought-cell activity that is inclined to produce fortunate events and conditions. It is quite easy to change the destructive attitude mapped by a discordant zodiac sign into its constructive attitude but you will need to recognize the consequences of your destructive attitude.
