In brief: When appraising a progressed aspect to determine what will happen five factors are considered: The three things affected by each of the two planets involved in the aspect; events mapped in your birth chart; your conditioned birth chart thought-cell activity; other progressed aspects acting as rallying forces; and your current environmental circumstances.
There are 2 constants: The planet’s energy and the house it impacts.
The chief event must relate to one of the houses in your chart ruled by the aspecting planets. So, you’re dealing with a variety of alternative events most of which, in the process of analysis, can be eliminated.
Your objective is to reduce the probable events to as few alternatives as possible.
The five-step method of progressed aspect-event appraisal
- Note planetary characteristics and house rulership constants.
The outstanding characteristics of the event are indicated by the planets*.
The actual event is ruled by one or more houses*.
This eliminates all events which do not bear the characteristics of the two planets and all events not belonging to the houses they rule.
- Eliminate all events improbable from your birth chart.
This eliminates all events not indicated in your birth chart due to a lack of planetary prominence, proper birth chart aspects or house activity.
- Eliminate all events improbable due to your conditioning.
This eliminates all events which your past conditioning – education, training and thought-cell habit systems – make unlikely.
- Eliminate from the remaining events those which do not fit into the pattern as influenced by all the other progressed aspects aka rallying forces.
Other progressed aspects can influence the importance and fortune of the event.
- Eliminate remaining events not probable due to personal circumstance.
This eliminates all events made unlikely due to your current life circumstances including your age and sex.
The keyword of the most powerful birth chart aspect to one of the planets involved, as modified or dominated by the keyword of the progressed aspect, will indicate something of the nature of the event and will permit still more elimination, until you are left with several alternate events any one of which might apparently happen.
It is not difficult to accurately predict the approximate time a major event can occur but it is far more difficult to determine its importance and how fortunate or unfortunate it will be.
You should only expect events indicated as probable by your birth chart.
When there are several planets located in a house each time any one of them is involved in a major progressed aspect it has the capacity to attract a major new event ruled by it.
Unoccupied houses do not have the same capacity to attract major events.
The importance of the event will be in proportion to the birth chart indicators and the volume of new energy being received.
When a birth chart or major progressed planet is involved in several major progressed aspects the extra energy acquired by its corresponding thought-cells allows them to attract an event of greater importance into the life. But if the energy is four times greater the event attracted will not be four times as important. Experience indicates that it will be one and one-half times as important or maybe twice as important.
The most powerful progressed aspect releasing energy at a specified time will tend to dominate your life, and probably influence the fortune or misfortune of the events attracted by less powerful aspects during the same period.
When a progressed planet makes a harmonious aspect to a planet it adversely aspects in your birth chart, or when a progressed planet makes a discordant aspect to a planet it favorably aspects the quality of the accentuated thought-cell activity and its potential to attract fortune or misfortune largely depends upon your conditioning and environment.
It is a good policy to give a 50-50 estimation based on the aspects, and look closely to your conditioning and environment to determine how much good fortune or misfortune you’re likely to experience. Usually there is some of both.
You must know as much as possible about your thought-cell activity and current environmental circumstances.
Environmental resistance and conditioning since birth being equal, the event indicated by a given progressed aspect, while characteristic of the two planets involved, will be more characteristic of the planet which has the most astrodynes; and its effect on the department of life will be important and harmonious or discordant in proportion to the relative number of astrodynes, harmodynes and discordynes the houses possess at the time.
To properly appraise the importance of the event likely to happen, and to properly appraise its harmony or discord, it is essential to know the power and harmony or discord of the stimulating progressed aspect and the power and harmony or discord of the thought-cells mapped by the house before they are stimulated by the major progressed aspect. Looking to the future in this manner enables you in preparing to direct the energy stimulus positively. You can take steps to ensure that a favorable event is given the opportunity to occur and an unfavorable event is prevented.
If you do not care for a particular event which is likely to occur, you should apply mental antidotes, conversion and environment management. You need to direct your efforts towards attracting events that you consider desirable.
What’s going on
When a progressed planet forms a progressed aspect with a birth chart or another progressed planet, the normal activity of the thought-cells within your astral body corresponding to the aspecting planets is stimulated.
Being supplied with extra energy the thought-cells can perform more work.
They attract an event.
The type and volume of thought-cell activity associated with a specified department of your life at a specified time represents a modification to its normal as indicated by its corresponding house in your birth chart.
Your thought-cell activity as indicated by your birth chart has been modified in its trend, volume, and harmony or discord, by events after your birth so you should learn as much as possible about your conditioning by environment and how previous progressed aspects have influenced your life.
Responding to the stimulus of planetary energies, your thoughts and feelings are altered so as to attract corresponding events into your life. And knowledge of your normal reaction to planetary energy allows you to discern the probable trend of future events if you make no effort to alter any of the three factors ruled by the aspecting planets.
The event attracted by your thought-cells will relate to the department of life corresponding to the aspecting planet’s house locations or cusp rulerships.
The thought-cells ruled by the houses actually occupied by the planets receive the most planetary energy.
Classify the likelihood of an event occurring
- Certain to occur. The event will occur unless you do something to change it. A highly probable event is made more certain by a supportive environment.
- Likely to occur. The event will probably occur.
- Moderate chance of occurring. The chance of the event occurring is increased by a supportive environment
- Unlikely to occur. Your birth chart does not support the event occurring.
Rating an event’s discord-risk potential
- Trivial: the discord-risk associated with the event is of little consequence.
- Minor: the discord-risk associated with the event is of minor consequence and needs to be monitored.
- Moderate: the discord-risk has moderate consequence and should be monitored carefully.
- Substantial: the discord-risk is high and a risk management strategy should be implemented.
- Extreme: the level of discord-risk is very high and a personal safety risk management strategy is required.
A high-discord progressed aspect requires management planning. The level of discord determines the level of risk management. This can vary from routine risk management to constant attention.

Sun: Any progressed aspect of the Sun affects your vitality, significance and/or authority.
Moon: Any progressed aspect of the Moon affects your mental attitude, domestic life, and/or everyday affairs.
Mercury: Any progressed aspect of Mercury affects your mental interests, facility or accuracy of expression, and increases your cerebral (brain) activity.
Venus: Any progressed aspect of Venus affects your emotions, social relations, and/or artistic appreciation.
Mars: Any progressed aspect of Mars brings strife, haste, and energized effort aka increased expenditure of energy.
Jupiter: Any progressed aspect of Jupiter affects you through abundance, increased optimism, and joviality.
Saturn: Any progressed aspect of Saturn brings work, responsibility, and economy or loss.
Uranus: Any progressed aspect of Uranus affects you through something sudden, a human agency, and brings change into your life.
Neptune: Any progressed aspect of Neptune increases your imagination and sensitivity, and attracts schemes.
Pluto: Any progressed aspect of Pluto affects through groups, subtle force, and brings coercion or cooperation.

House 1: Events involve your physical body and health, temperament and disposition, quality of your personal magnetism and purely personal changes.

House 3: Events involve your siblings, other close relatives, private thoughts and studies, education, neighbors, writing, including correspondence and short journeys.
House 4: Events involve accommodation, your home, hotels, restaurants, father, real estate, mining, crops on the ground and end of life conditions.
House 5: Events involve pleasures, love affairs, hobbies, sport, gamboling, speculation, stocks and bonds, children and entertainment.
House 6: Events involve labor, working conditions, quality of service, work associates, employees, tenants, hygiene, diet, food, small animals and illness.
