That’s because the thought-cell energy is derived from experiences of that planetary type and its expression, in attracting events or in influencing your behavior, always remains characteristic of the planet.
Therefore, the most certain and logical starting point for judging what you may expect from a given progressed aspect is the characteristic influence of each of two planets involved.
That said there are three ways in which a progressed aspect to a given planet in some measure affects your life; and each reflects the basic trends of the desires which were built into the thought-cells in lower life-forms.
A house ruled by the planets is a constant
As the thought-cells were built by experiences relative to definite departments of life, their desires and their activities will express relative to the same departments of life. A vast amount of statistical work bears this out, and we know that the department of life chiefly influenced by a progressed aspect will be one of those mapped by the houses ruled by the aspecting planets.
But you’re faced with alternatives. Usually more than one house is indicated and sometimes there are several. The houses actually occupied by the planets at the time the aspect reaches peak power represent the thought-cells which are given most planetary energy. But this is of less significance than your conditioning by environment and your current life circumstances through which events occur.
There is no sure way of knowing from the progressed aspect alone which department of life will be chiefly influenced.
The importance of the event
This is measured by the volume of thought-cell activity.
A progressed aspect supplies energy to not-conscious thought-cell groups which work to attract events that replicate how they feel.
The importance of the event is measured by the amount of thought-cell activity as indicated by your birth chart, your conditioning since birth, the influence of the progressed aspect and other progressed aspects, as modified by your environment’s capacity to resist events of the type indicated by the progressed planets.
The event’s importance is relative to other events in your life so forget about your relatives and friends and the events they’ve experienced.
You cannot gauge from the power of the progressed aspect alone how important the event you attract will be.
You may have gotten into a rut, so thoroughly conditioned to be fixed in certain respects and to resist change. Only you know the habitual state of your daily life and the opportunities it presents for events.
The event can be beneficial or detrimental
Harmonious thought-cells work to bring into your life behavior and events which are beneficial and discordant thought-cells work to bring behavior and events which are detrimental. So far as the planetary energies are concerned, those planets with net harmony scores due to trine, sextile or semisextile aspects map harmonious events and conditions; and those with net discord scores due to opposition, square, sesquisquare and semisquare aspects map discordant events and conditions.
A progressed aspect involving any planet modifies its birth chart harmony or discord. So, when judging the harmony or discord of thought-cells when they’re influenced by a progressed aspect, and their tendency to attract a fortunate or unfortunate event, you must consider the progressed aspect’s harmony or discord as modifying the birth chart harmony or discord of the thought-cells.
Eliminate Less Probable Events
Events and conditions which your birth chart shows to be improbable allow you to eliminate some of the many alternatives listed under the aspect, planets and houses involved.
Knowledge of your past experiences will indicate the habit-systems which your thought-cells have formed for their usual expression and this will enable you to eliminate other alternatives which depart too markedly from these habit-systems.
Knowledge of your environment will indicate there are facilities for some of the alternative events, and great resistance to others. This will allow you to eliminate those for which your environment affords little or no opportunity.
The keyword of the most powerful birth chart aspect to one of the planets involved, as modified or dominated by the keyword of the progressed aspect, will indicate something of the nature of the event and will permit still more elimination to be made, until you are left with a specific event or events characteristic of one or more of the planets involved in the aspect, belonging to one of the houses these planets rule, and whose nature is further described by the aspect’s keyword.
Judging the chief specific event
When you endeavor to pick the chief event which will probably be attracted by a given progressed aspect you’re dealing with a variety of alternatives most of which, in the process of analysis, have been eliminated.
Your birth chart maps the events that are probable during your life and you should only expect these events.
Then as your thought-cell activity as mapped in your birth chart has been modified in its trend, volume, and harmony or discord by events after birth, you should learn as much as possible about your conditioning by environment and the events that have come into your life due to your thought-cell activity applying pressure on your physical environment.
This personal knowledge puts you in the know when judging any progressed aspect.
You know the event will bear the characteristics of the planets involved in the aspect.
You know the chief specific event must relate to one of the departments of life mapped by a house in your birth chart whose ruling planet is making a progressed aspect.
House 1 events involve your physical body and health, your temperament and disposition, personal interests and/or personal change.
House 2 events involve money and other personal possessions.
House 3 events involve your private thoughts, habitual state of mind, studies, education, verbal or written expression, correspondence, everyday events, local travel, short trips, siblings and/or neighbors.
House 4 events involve your home, housing, accommodation, real estate matters, father, hotels, restaurants, mining, crops on the ground, the weather, and end of life conditions.
House 5 events involve your pleasure life, love, sex, entertainment, places of amusement, hobbies, sport, gambling, speculation, stocks, bonds and/or children.
House 6 events involve your work/labor, working conditions, workmates, employees and the quality of their service, tenants, food diet, medications, pet and sickness.
House 7 events involve marriage, partnerships, divorce, your partners, the public, teammates, competitors, rivals, opponents, enemies, strangers and/or law suits.
House 8 events involve your investments, interest on bank accounts and loans, partner’s money, the public’s money, mortgage, taxes, pensions, social security, legacies, gifts, death and/or the influence of those who have died.
House 9 events involve your religion/life philosophy, morals/ethics, higher education, court cases, jury’s verdict, long journeys, teaching, publishing, advertising, lecturing, radio, television and/or internet.
House 10 events involve your honor, business, credit, profession, superiors and/or mother.
House 11 events involve your friends, well-wishers, counselors and/or hopes and wishes.
House 12 events involve your secrets, restrictions, sorrows, disappointments, hidden enemies, places of confinement, crime, psychic influences and/or astral entities.
As what comes into your life under the progressed aspect being appraised is due to thought-cell activity exerting pressure upon, and receiving stimulation from, your physical environment, both your conscious thinking and the environmental factors involved are significant of the events which result.
This is tremendously important; for if the trend of your conscious thinking and the environmental factors are deliberately changed, the events which transpire will be markedly different.
You should realize that it is well worth your time and effort to become familiar with and appraise your progressed aspects. Knowledge of planetary energies allows you to use them for your greatest personal advantage and benefit.
