The acquisition of scientific astrological data involves developing a hypothesis and putting it to the test.

So the French presidential election on April 23, 2017 provides a rare opportunity to test a long held hypothesis – that in a political contest the candidate with the most harmonious tenth house will be the winner – because the five leading candidates have birth times recorded on their birth certificates.
The recorded time won’t be absolutely precise but it will be close enough to permit an accurate assessment of their charts and to test the hypothesis.
House 10 is the chief focus of interest because it relates to events involving credit, honor and getting a job.
It signifies the compartment in the not-conscious soul-mind where thought-cells built by events involving honor, credit, the career and profession are saved in memory.
Then, when a progressed aspect stimulates these thought-cells into activity they work to attract a new event influencing these life-matters.
Thought-cells that feel harmonious work to attract fortunate events and thought-cells that feel discordant work attract unfortunate events.
So what happens is all about not-conscious thought-cell activity with the progressed chart revealing if the astrological stimulation at a specified time is harmonious and beneficial or discordant and detrimental.
That said it’s presumed that the top five candidates vying for the French presidency have political merit and advocate policies that have some popularity with voters.

Voters in France go to the polls on April 23 but if no candidate gets a majority of more than 50% of the vote the two candidates who receive the highest scores will face each other in a run-up on May 7.
As at April 1 a show-down on May 7 seems inevitable.
No candidate has anywhere near 50% of the votes and experienced political commentators claim that no one can predict the outcome of the election.
Each candidate’s chart operates in an environmental setting – the voting public – and opinion polls provide important information on how each one is faring (if you believe opinion polls).
So, here’s an astrological assessment of the top five candidates and their chances of becoming the next president of France.
Marine Le Pen
Marine Le Pen is the leader of the hard-right party Front National (FN).
She’s at the far-right end of the political spectrum – a popularists who plays on economic and immigration anxieties (Saturn).
She is strongly anti-European Union and promises a referendum on France’s EU membership.
Le Pen pledges to drastically reduce immigration, reinstitute border controls and ditch the Euro for a national currency and is being investigated into ‘fake’ jobs at the European Parliament.
At April 1 Le Pen has 25% of the vote and would make the May 7 run-up, but would lose.

House 11 – his friends and supporters, and he has very influential friends – dominates his chart.
Neptune – planet of dreams, schemes and idealism – is in house 10 – his honor, credit and reputation so he’s seen as an idealist.
He has the ability to promote his own career.
The Sun-Mercury conjunction is trine Saturn so this guy is a very smart thinker.

But since late January he has been under formal investigation in a fake job scandal involving his wife after it emerged that she had been paid as his parliamentary assistant for years, but no proof of actual work could be found.
He is also being investigated over payments to his two children, Marie and Charles, when he was a senator. And he’s suspected of diverting public funds, complicity in misappropriating funds, receiving the funds and not declaring assets fully.
The fake job scandal has seen his popularity plunge.
As at April 1 Fillon has 18.5% of the vote and would not make the run-up. Bookie’s have him at 5/1 to become France’s next President.

The MC dominates Fillon’s chart.
It’s the marker for credit, honor and publicity and with 20.74 harmodynes it’s high in harmony.
The Moon – planet of family and notoriety – in house 5 (his children) is cusp ruler of house 10 (his reputation).
It’s conjunction the Sun and the Sun-Moon conjunction is square (obstacle) Mars – the planet of strife in house 3 (the press) and cusp ruler of house 7 (his wife).

Fillon’s chart with 82.55 harmodynes is high in harmony but Mars, the only discordant planet, could ruin his political career.

As at April 1 Melenchon has 14% of the vote and would not make the run-up on May 7.
Bookies have him 66/1 to become France’s next President.

The ascendant dominates Melenchon’s chart.
It’s the marker for personality, personal affairs and health.

There are too many barriers – in particular inaccurate birth times – that hamper the progress of scientific astrology but this research project to test the theory that in a political contest the winner will be the candidate who has the highest house 10 harmodyne score reveals that Francoise Fillon (if he runs) with a house 10 score of 214. 31 harmodynes will be the next President of France.
But it’s only one test so there’s still a lot more testing to be done.
