July 18 – British Colombia wildfires: There are 155 active fires burning with 15 significant blazes threatening communities. A blaze that started on July 6 was driven by high temperatures (Mars) and strong winds (Mercury). On July 9 a state of emergency was declared. Canada experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
July 19 – California wildfires: The fires that started on July 8 have mushroomed to 19,400 hectares with 29 structures destroyed and 1,500 under threat. Extreme heat (Mars) and high winds (Mercury) have fanned the flames. A state of emergency for Mariposa County was declared on July 18. The California blaze was among 37 active large fires spread across 12 western states.
August 6: More than 30 people are injured and dozens of buildings damaged when a tornado hits Tulsa causing power outages. The EF-2 tornado (Mercury) with winds of about 125 miles per hour (200 kph) snapped utility poles, downed trees, flipped cars and ripped buildings apart.
August 12: A state of emergency (Mars) is declared in Charlottesville, Virginia following clashes (Mars) between alt-right white supremacists (Uranus) protesting (Uranus) the removal of a statue of Confederate general Robert E Lee and counter demonstrators (Uranus).
August 25: Hurricane Harvey – The Texas Storm – makes landfall near Rockport, Texas at 10pm CDT as a category 4 hurricane with maximum winds of 130 mph.
August 27/28 – Texas: Tropical storm Harvey dumps record rain and causes catastrophic flooding (Saturn) as thousands flee (Saturn). Five people are reported dead.
August 29/30: The catastrophic rain and flooding continues in Houston, Texas with 22 people confirmed dead and more than 13,000 rescued. Harvey – the biggest rainstorm in the history of the continental United States – is now pivoting toward Louisiana.
August 30: Tropical storm Harvey makes its second landfall in Louisiana. The suffering is unrelenting as the death toll rises to 38.
September 1 – California: Butte county wildfire: California Governor Jerry Brown issues an emergency declaration. The fire has burned 3,715 acres (1,503 hectares) and destroyed 30 homes. Authorities issue evacuation orders to residents of some 500 homes in the area.
September 2: Tropical Storm Lidia lashes states in Western Mexico leaving a trail of damaged homes and roads. Mexico experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
September 4: 19 wildfires (Mars) are burning in California including the largest ever brush fire in Los Angeles. Mars was conjunction the eclipse.
September 6: Hurricane Irma (Mercury) makes landfall on Barbuda, Saint Martin and Anguilla. At least seven people are killed. Barbuda has been wiped out with 90% of all structures destroyed. These Caribbean Islands experienced a partial eclipse.
September 7: Hurricane Irma barrels through the Caribbean passing over Hispaniola, the Turks and Caicos Islands and Puerto Rico as it heads towards The Bahamas and Cuba. There’s massive damage with at least 14 people killed. All these islands experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
September 8 – Cuba: Hurricane Irma – a category 5 hurricane – makes landfall on Cuba with massive destruction along the north central coast of the island. Cuba experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
September 9 – Mexico: Hurricane Katie makes landfall in Veracruz state, Mexico. Thousands were left without power and two people died in a mudslide triggered by heavy rain. Mexico experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
September 10 – Florida: Hurricane Irma makes landfall in Florida as a category 4 hurricane bringing high winds, heavy rain and warnings of storm surges. Over 3.4 million people have lost power. Florida experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
September 15 – Hurricane Irma update: After days of destruction, death and terror millions of people throughout the Caribbean, Florida and the southeastern United States are trying to piece their lives back together.
On the Caribbean island of Barbuda the ‘damage is complete’. The island’s ambassador to the US, Ronald Sanders, said ‘For the first time in 300 years, there’s not a single living person on the island – a civilization that has existed there for over 300 years has now been extinguished.’
The death toll from Harvey is at least 82 with damages cost in the US estimated at between $150 and $180 billion.
September 19 – Dominica: Hurricane Maria – a category 5 hurricane – makes landfall in Dominica devastating the Caribbean island. The islands of the Caribbean all experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
September 20 – Puerto Rica: Hurricane Maria makes landfall as a category 4 storm. Effects are disastrous and the entire island loses power. Seven deaths are reported with two on Guadeloupe. Puerto Rico experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
September 23 – Mexico: A magnitude 6.2 earthquake strikes the central Mexican state of Oaxaca killing at least one person and damaging housing and infrastructure already damaged by Tuesday's quake. Mexico experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
October 1: A gunman (Mars) in Las Vegas opens fire on concert goers killing 59 and injuring 529 in America’s worst mass shooting (murder) in modern history. Mars – the planet of guns, shootings and violence – was conjunction the eclipse and Pluto – the planet of crowds and drastic events – was sesquisquare the eclipse. Las Vegas experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
October 5: Tropical Storm Nate causes heavy rains, landslides and floods and kills at least 20 people in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Honduras. Roads are blocked and homes and bridges destroyed. These island nations experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
October 7: Hurricane Nate slams into the Mississippi Coast with destructive winds and torrential rains that flooded streets and highways throughout the region. The US experienced a total eclipse of the Sun.
October 9 – California: Wildfires (Mars) fanned by strong winds (Mercury) rip through Californian wine country, killing at least 10 people, forcing some 20,000 residents to flee and destroying hundreds of homes and businesses. Governor Jerry Brown declares a state of emergency for Napa, Sonoma, and Yuba counties.
October 12 – California: Wildfires (Mars) continue to rampage across California with the death toll climbing to 29. Hundreds of people are missing with 3,500 buildings and homes destroyed.
October 14 – California: Wildfires fanned by 70km/h (45mph) winds continue to blaze out of control forcing more people to evacuate. Forty people have died, hundreds are missing and thousands of homes have been destroyed. Governor Gerry Brown said it was ‘one of the greatest tragedies’ the state had ever faced.
