The Great American Eclipse: August 21, 2017

On Monday, August 21, 2017, a total eclipse of the Sun occurred. The Sun’s light was eclipsed by the Moon and the Moon’s shadow fell across America.

The path of totality, averaging 67 miles (108km) wide, crossed through 10 states – Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia and South Carolina – and skimmed several others.

A partial eclipse was visible from all of North America, the eastern tip of Russia, Canada, Greenland, Mexico, Central America – Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama – The Caribbean Islands, South America – Venezuela, Colombia, Guyana, Guiana, Suriname, Ecuador and parts of Brazil – England, France, Spain and North-West Africa – Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, The Gambia and Guinea-Bissau.

The theory of eclipses

The theory of eclipses proposes that within a few months, before or after an eclipse, a disaster will afflict a populated region that experiences the blacking out of the Sun.

The theory doesn’t specify the type of disaster – whether natural or manmade – its magnitude, precise location or the date it is likely to occur. But the type of disaster can be discerned from the nature of the planets that aspect the eclipse.

Eclipse data

The eclipse was conjunction Mercury – planet of talk, the press, wind and controversy; conjunction Mars – planet war, fire and destruction; trine Saturn – planet of security measures, careful planning and fear; trine (luck) Uranus – planet of disruption; and sesquisquare (agitation) Pluto – planet of groups, mass activity and drastic events.

Chart data is August 21, 2017 at 2.30pm EDT (77W01; 38N53)

The eclipse, Mercury and Mars are in house 9 (the Supreme Court, constitution, law courts, legal matters, ethical issues, trade, religion, aviation, airlines, tourism, internet, radio and television.)

In regard to natural disasters the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration had forecast an above-normal Atlantic hurricane season.

The peak tornado season in the Northern Plains, Northern States and upper Midwest was in June or July.

Saturn is the planet of storms and other natural disasters and hurricanes and tornados are destructive wind (Mercury) storms and Mercury is conjunction the eclipse. Mercury, Saturn and eclipses are forces of nature but you can’t eliminate humanity from the equation. It’s a force of nature too.

And while it’s generally believed that human behavior is not involved in natural disasters it’s likely that the natural disaster that the great American eclipse forecasts will bear the mark of climate change that’s predominately caused by human behavior.

The eclipse and you

It’s commonly assumed by fortune-teller type astrologers that an eclipse falling in the same degree as the Sun or some other planet in your chart will coincide with an event that can be attributed to the eclipse, but this is a false assumption.

The major events you experience are defined by your birth chart and local environment. They’re timed by major progressed aspects.

The personal experience of anyone directly involved in a disaster-event mapped by the eclipse will be clearly explained by the progressed aspects operating in their charts at the time of the disaster.

Eclipses have a mundane – not personal – influence.
