Explainer: Progressed aspects in global astrology

Your local bureau of meteorology provides a daily weather forecast that covers a 24 hour time-frame. It lets you know the type of weather conditions you can expect during the forecast period. But in global astrology the forecast period for a specified astrological event in a cycle chart or the sky isn’t as regular.

Progressed aspects in global astrology cycle charts have a 1° orb of effective influence.

The chart’s ruling planet is moving and the birth chart planet is stationary and the event a specified aspect forecasts can only occur when the two planets are within this 1°orb. The aspect’s forecast period is determined by the moving planets rate of motion.

If it’s a fast moving planet (Sun, Mars or Jupiter) the forecast period is short and if it’s a slow moving planet (Saturn, Uranus, Neptune or Pluto) it’s long.

When the moving planet moves to within 1° of a birth chart planet or ascendant or Midheaven a progressed aspect is formed. It signifies the start of the aspect’s forecast period.

The aspect reaches peak date when the moving planet reaches the same degree and minute as the birth chart planet. This peak date signifies when the astro-event is at peak power.

The aspect ends when the moving planet moves beyond 1°of the birth chart planet. This end date signifies the end of the aspect’s forecast period.

An aspect at its start date has a specified amount of astrodyne power which gradually builds. It reaches maximum power on its peak date and then its power gradually decreases. At its end date, which signifies the end of the forecast period, the aspect has no astrodyne power.

So the forecast period for any cycle chart aspect is a specified time-frame having a start and end date with the event likely to occur near its peak power date.

The energy being liberated by the aspect rises and falls in a wave like motion that looks like this.

bell-curve

The start and end dates of a progressed aspect define its forecast period and the peak date indicates when the energy being liberated is at peak power.

The forecast period of a progressed aspect in the Mars cycle is 3 days. Parallel aspects are longer.

And the time frame of a progressed aspect in the Jupiter cycle is around two weeks. Parallel aspects are longer.

Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto have slow rates of motion which prolongs the forecast period of a progressed aspect in their cycle charts.

The event signified by a progressed aspect in any cycle chart can only occur during its designated forecast period.

Conjunction, opposition and square aspects formed by planets in the sky have a wide – 10° – orb of influence.

The aspect starts and ends when the two planets move to within and beyond this 10°orb. It reaches maximum peak power when the two planets are in the same degree and minute of the zodiac and the aspect is perfect.
