The United Nations in 2018

December 31, 2017

The United Nations is a group (Pluto) of 193 member countries.

It’s based in New York and its principle institutions are the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council and the Trusteeship Council.

Its main judicial body is the International Court of Justice at The Hague, Netherlands.

As a global organization it addresses issues that transcend national boundaries.

Its chief objectives are maintaining security (Saturn), protecting human rights (Aquarius) and promoting international cooperation (Pluto).

And its chief antagonists are war (Mars), self-interest (Saturn) and disunity (Pluto).

In 2018 the UN has embraced many new challenges.

To its initial goals of safeguarding peace, protecting human rights, establishing the framework for international justice and promoting economic and social progress have been added climate change (Saturn), refugees (Neptune) and AIDS (Saturn).

The UN, with its specialized agencies, is engaged in a wide range of activities to improve people’s lives such as disaster relief (Jupiter), health and disease education (Mercury), the advancement of women (Venus) and the peaceful uses of atomic energy (Pluto).

It provides development assistance, cultural cooperation and peacekeeping and tends to problems associated with refugees and climate change that are caused by people behaving badly.

So the UN chart provides a unique perspective on the world.

It won’t tell you which countries are at war or which countries are suffering due to man-made or natural disasters. But it will tell you how the organization is faring and whether it is moving forward or battling headwinds as it strives to fulfill its international obligations.

On November 29, 2017 a sensational (Uranus) event occurred at the UN court in The Hague when Slobodan Praljak – a Bosnian-Croat general – who, on hearing he had been found guilty of war crimes (house 12), committed suicide (house 12) by drinking poison (Neptune).

In the UN chart progressed Venus was square birth chart Neptune – the cusp ruler of house 12 – and progressed Sun in house 10 was inconjunct progressed Uranus in house 2. Progressed Moon was square birth chart Sun stimulating the Sun-Uranus progression.

The United Nations chart progressed to December 31, 2018

Chart data is: October 24, 1945 at 4.45pm EST – 38N53; 77W01

In 2017, progressed Mercury – planet of talks and dialogue – in house 9 was opposition birth chart Moon in house 3 and parallel birth chart Mars – planet of dissension – in house 4 – and the world failed to reach a consensus solution on the North Korea problem.

Then in December, when the progressed Mercury-birth chart Moon aspect had ended, the UN Security Council unanimously voted to impose new sanctions on the rogue nation.

And with progressed Jupiter – planet of finances – square birth chart Saturn – planet of shortages – the UN was strapped for cash and regularly requested financial assistance from member countries to deal with humanitarian and other disasters in Yemen, Syria, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Somalia etc.

By year’s end progressed Mercury inconjunct birth chart Mars was reaching peak power (February 21, 2018) and the talk (Mercury) of war (Mars) on the Korean Peninsula was getting louder, but North Korea is only one of a number of conflict hot-spots that the UN has to deal with.

Progressed Mercury inconjunct birthchart Mars ends in November 2018 so the war talk, acrimony and dissension will stick around till then.

Progressed Venus is square progressed Neptune

Progressed Venus in house 9 moved to form an obstacle (square) aspect with birth chart Neptune in house 6 in October 2016.

This aspect reached peak power in August 2017 and ends in June 2018, but on January 15, 2018 progressed Venus moves to form a square aspect with birth chart Neptune.

This aspect reaches peak power on November 2, 2018 and ends in August 2019 so progressed Venus will be square Neptune for nigh on 3 years.

Neptune is the planet of chemicals, poisons, drugs, pharmaceuticals, oil, gas, aviation, graft, fraud, deception, confusion, lies, refugees and slaves.

A refugee is a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war (Mars), persecution (Pluto) or natural disaster (Saturn) and the United Nations in its annual report in June 2016 said that the number of refugees worldwide had reached a record 65 million.

A slave is a person who is the property of another, especially in involuntary servitude, and modern day slavery includes forced labor, bonded labor, human trafficking, descent-based slavery, child slavery, forced or early marriage and debt bondage and there is an estimated 40 million people around the world being held in some form of slavery.

Venus specifically stands for women and girls.

So, the United Nations, with progressed Venus square birth chart and progressed Neptune has been struggling (square aspect) to deal with these massive humanitarian problems.

In the UN chart Venus is conjunction Neptune in house 6 – labor, sickness, food, medical services and UN employees around the globe.

Saturn is the planet of despair and misery

War (Mars) and natural disasters (Saturn) bring suffering and despair and in December 2017 progressed Mercury in house 9 (radio, television and internet) moved to form an inconjunct aspect with birth chart Saturn in house 4 (homes, housing, crops on the ground, weather events and natural disasters).

The aspect reaches peak power on September 18, 2018 so the despair and misery being caused by Mars and Saturn in 2018 will be given a great deal of talk and discussion at the United Nations, in the print media and news websites and on radio and television.

Natural disasters include blizzards, thunderstorms, earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, heatwaves, hurricanes, landslides, drought, tornados, tsunamis, hail and wildfires.

They cause physical, mental and emotional damage.

Hope is on the horizon

The United Nations struggles to maintain peace and security and deal with major humanitarian problems but in 2018 hope is in the horizon.

Two high-harmony opportunity (sextile) aspects forecast a fortunate change in circumstances that favors progress and advancement.

On March 20, 2018 progressed Sun in house 10 (the UN’s administration and reputation) moves to form a sextile aspect with birth chart Mercury – planet of dialogue – in house 7 (conflict and war).

It reaches peak power and harmony on March 24, 2019 and forecasts opportunities to resolve conflicts with talks, conferences and meetings (Mercury) having productive, worthwhile outcomes.

And on May 22, 2018 progressed Mercury in house 9 (commerce, trade, religion, higher education, radio, television, internet and social media) moves to form a sextile aspect with progressed Jupiter – planet of goodwill, hope, tolerance, charity and treaties – in house 7.

It reaches peak power and harmony on March 10, 2019 and forecasts an even better outcome at the talks and conferences due to an atmosphere of goodwill, optimism and hope.

Grab the opportunities

For humanity to stop its warring and squabbling Mars would have to fall out of the sky and that isn’t going to happen.

But with Mercury and the Sun – the rulers of house 7 (war) – involved in very harmonious progressed aspects – in particular progressed Mercury sextile progressed Jupiter in house 7 – the signs point strongly towards success at the talks and conferences and the signing of contracts, agreements and treaties.

Under these favorable progressions the UN will make great progress in fulfilling its chief objectives but it needs to grab the opportunities.

In January 2019 progressed Mars in house 4 (land and territories) moves to form an obstacle (square) aspect with progressed Jupiter in house 7 (war) and this high-discord energy event indicates that the UN will have its hands full dealing with the strife, conflict, territorial disputes, religious violence, financial feuding and violent weather events.

Knight errant of the zodiac

The chart for the United Nations has the third decanate of Aries on the ascendant.

Aries is a militant sign that’s renowned for its combative tendencies and inclination to interfere in the affairs of others.

But the third decanate is sub-ruled by Jupiter and Jupiter diverts the aggressive energies into religious and philosophical channels.

It’s pictured in the sky by Perseus who gained renown through his daring exploits (Aries) in relieving oppression (Jupiter).

Perseus – knight errant of the zodiac – vanquished the Gorgon Medusa.

She was a loathsome creature– the personification of greed and selfishness (Saturn) – who had living snakes for hair.

Perseus campaigned against the sordid conditions that oppress civilized life so you could say that the United Nations – in the Age of Aquarius – is playing the role of a modern day Perseus

It’s relieving oppression; assisting those suffering in the war zones; engaged in peacekeeping; striving to resolve conflict; promoting economic and social progress, providing disaster relief and committed to maintaining international peace and security.

It’s a human rights advocate and obliged to better living standards and promote friendly relations between countries.
