Aquarius: A snapshot of September 2020

In August 2020 despair was in the air. Progressed Neptune square Saturn in the Neptune cycle reached peak power on August 29 and there was no let up in the suffering, financial hardship and loss. The covid-19 pandemic wrecked death and economic havoc.

Globally there were around 1.8 million new covid cases and around 40,000 covid deaths each week. In America the virus was spreading faster than ever and gridlock in Congress held up a second fiscal-stimulus bill. The unemployed fell into poverty. Covid-19 was out-of-control in Brazil, India and South Africa and fresh outbreaks, spikes, surges, second peaks, resurgences or second waves occurred in many countries. The economic fallout got worse, airlines were grounded, oil revenues slumped and Europe’s tourist summer season struggled against the odds.

With Uranus square Jupiter and Saturn in the Jupiter-Saturn conjunction chart the covid pandemic was fertile ground for unpredictable moments, conspiracy theories and bizarre ideologies. The weird behavior of ‘sovereign citizens’ who don’t adhere to the laws of the land and others who ignored, disobeyed or refused to follow advice became an obstacle preventing the containment of the virus. And for some the trivial matter of wearing a face mask became a major human rights issue. With progressed Sun square Moon in the Aquarian Age chart the pandemic was taking its toll on people’s mental health.

And with progressed Mars parallel progressed Pluto and progressed Moon inconjunct birth chart Pluto in the Aquarian Age chart, and Mars square Jupiter and Pluto and parallel Neptune in the sky, an explosion in Beirut left the city looking like a war zone and a rigged election in Belarus ignited a violent then peaceful people’s uprising.

With no aspects in the Mars, Saturn and Uranus cycles September 2020 could be a relatively quiet month for major news stories. Chances are events and developments pertaining to the covid-19 pandemic will play second fiddle to the US presidential election as it gathers momentum and provides the 24/7 news cycle with lots of forgettable news and commentary.
