February 4: In the US fighter jets shoot down (Mars) a giant Chinese balloon (Neptune) that it says has been spying (house 12) on key military sites across America. An Arctic blast (Saturn) brings dangerously cold (Mars-Saturn) temperatures to swaths of the northeastern United States and Canada. The wind chill factor atop  Mount Washington in New Hampshire state, reached -78 degrees Celsius (-108F) overnight which broke the previous low recorded there of -74C (-101F). February 2-3: In the US defence officials announce they are tracking a high-altitude surveillance Chinese spy (house 12) balloon (Neptune) over the United States. China confirms the balloon is theirs and apologizes asserting the balloon was merely a civilian airship used for research, mainly meteorological purposes that had strayed into US territory after being blown off course.
