In 2020 the most powerful nation on Earth is politically and socially divided.
You could say there are two Americas: The conservative blue states that are branded with Saturn’s logo and the progressive liberal red states that are tagged with the Uranus emblem. The blue states uphold tried and true traditional values and the red states endorse progressive change and social reform.
Major decisions regarding political, economic and social matters are made by the US Supreme Court. As the final arbiter of the law it’s the guardian and interpreter of the constitution. It’s charged with ensuring the American people the promise of equal justice under the law and like the populace it’s divided too.
The US is a multi-racial and multi-ethnic country. The state officially categorizes its population into six groups: white, African American, Native American/Alaskan Native, Pacific Islander, Asian, and Native Hawaiian. But there’s systemic racism, socio-economic inequality and deep division between the major racial groups.
America divides along social values. There are freewheeling libertarians running on the slogan: be who you are and life your life; and social conservatives who see gender roles and the rights and wrongs of sexual orientation written in stone in ancient religious texts.
So there’s psychic conflict as progressive Aquarian Age values and traditional religious teachings clash and the conservative religious right is fighting for what it perceives are the rules for living decreed by a higher than human intelligence.
History reveals that America has always experienced political and social division but since the election of Donald Trump in 2016 the self-serving, angry president has done nothing to heal the divisions that defined the nation when he was elected.
Rather, he and his administration, have actively stoked the racial, educational, health, financial and justice inequities and this has culminated in an historically dark moment for Uncle Sam and his citizens. In 2020 the country is more divided than ever.
People with differing political viewpoints in particular are conflicting. They don’t befriend, live close to or even speak to one another and this social division is a recipe for disaster.
Division stifles economic and social progress. There’s no unity or consensus. There’s no common ground. It ferments hate and feuding. It’s a cultural nightmare.
America’s birth chart and astrodyne report
In America’s chart Uranus – planet of freedom and liberty – is in house 1. It’s conjunction the ascendant and the most important central principle for Americans is clearly stated in the first amendment of their nation’s constitution.
‘Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.’
And with Mars – planet of guns – in house 1 (the people) the second amendment to the country’s Constitution (Bill of Rights) states: ‘A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.’
With Mars in house 1 the American people are naturally predisposed to fight and feud. So conflict and heated disagreement easily arise over issues like gun control, immigration, climate change, or political corruption.
But with the Moon – planet of feelings, hunches, impressions and inklings – having a far higher astrodyne score than Mercury – planet of reasoned thought and sensible debate – it’s safe to conclude that fickle irrational feelings drive the conversations and talkfests rather than sober, objective rational analysis.
Mercury is opposition Pluto
In America’s chart Mercury in house 3 is opposition Pluto in house 9 and the American people – Mercury is the cusp ruler of house 1 (the people) – are destined to experience drastic events defined by separation.
The aspect operates in a changing environment and at different times the drastic separation culminates in different events. The civil war was one.
Mercury – the planet of communication – in house 3 (the press, journalists and writers) is the means by which the public is informed and educated by the daily press. The media moguls operating through their newspapers exert enormous control over the public mind. They tell people what to think and do.
Pluto – the planet of propaganda – in house 9 (radio, television, social media and internet) is the means by which the public is informed and educated by shock-jocks, television presenters, Facebook posts and tweets; and the media magnates operating through electronically transmitted messages exert massive control over people’s thoughts and actions.
Now, in 2020, Mercury and his press and magazines are involved in a gigantic tug-of-war with Pluto’s tech-giants and radio and television conglomerates to control the public mind and with newspapers across America closing down the press is losing the information war.
The war is being won by Pluto’s propaganda machine. It’s using social media platforms, websites, radio and television to control the public mind. But the unregulated spreading of fake news and misinformation is a grave dilemma – maybe the greatest menace facing America. Pluto is producing an ignorance spiral.
Too many people are being educated by the internet. They’re being dumbed-down by the university of television. They’re relying on social media for their daily news feeds. And lacking the critical thinking skills needed to distinguish between true and false information they’re unquestioningly accepting fake news and misinformation as true.
Pluto is the planet of groups
Observation confirms that Pluto is the planet of groups and that when Pluto is afflicted he tends to split a group into rival factions. And when a group is formed to accomplish some purpose another group is formed to prevent its realization.
Pluto in America’s chart is afflicted so you could say that the country is a gathering of groups who work to attain or prevent the attainment of some objective.
In March 2020 the death (murder) of George Floyd was a watershed moment for the nation. Justified anger took to the streets in anti-police brutality protests and forced deeper questions regarding racial inequality into the open.
But at the same time rival groups were being formed in American universities to reject the liberal Aquarian Age notion that every human being is born equal.
This rival Lower-Pluto approach rejects progress and defines everyone by their race and every action as racist or anti-racist. It’s designed to supplant liberal values and sow division to the disadvantage of all – black and white – and its spreading.
November 8, 2016
In our forecast for America in 2017 we explained that America had at least 8 birth charts and that the one we use is described as the Gemini rising chart.
Based on the chart’s progressions we commented: ‘On November 4, 2008 with progressed Uranus conjunction the ascendant the US, in a radical move (Uranus), elected Barack Obama president; but with progressed Sun sesquisquare progressed Mars it was a dangerous move and in many parts of the country the level of racism (Uranus) and hatred (Mars) began to escalate.
… And on November 6, 2012 Barack Obama was reelected president – progressed Midheaven in the chart was trine (luck) birth chart Uranus.
Then in January 2015 progressed ascendant in house 7 moved to form a high-discord opposition (separation) aspect with birth chart Mars and this stimulation to Mars poured fuel on the flames of anger and hatred that was simmering in many parts of the country.
The aspect reached peak power in April 2016 and Donald Trump rode the wave of discontentment (Uranus) and anger (Mars) all the way to White House.
By now the country was irreparably damaged. (But) the damage inflicted by hate and anger isn’t a flesh wound – it goes to the core of the nation’s psyche – and with so much racism and hatred there’s little chance of the wound healing. 2016 is etched in the minds of all Americans and for many the bitterness, disgust and resentment won’t go away.
America’s future needs to be viewed through this lens and Donald Trump, who fueled the racism, sexism and anger, will be a victim of the hatred and disrespect he fueled.’
Core values define a nation
The Divided States of America is a superpower, but there’s no clear definition on what that actually means. It’s generally agreed that a superpower nation has mastered the seven dimensions of state power – geography, population, economy, resources, military, diplomacy and national identity.
Superpower status is more commonly viewed in terms of economic and military might but Hermetic science adds moral power to the mix.
For America to stay on top it has to endorse and practice core values that represent the best there is. It has to provide other nations with a standard to aspire to. It has to value democracy, consensus and common decency.
It has to endorse and practice ‘good’ or virtuous behaviors like kindness, fairness, honesty, gratitude and tolerance. But the Divided States of America is scarred with a not quite fair political system, disunity, spite, animosity, hate, inequality, distrust and intolerance.
Countries are judged by their core values – the principles or beliefs that they view are of central importance. America’s values distinguish it from other countries and outsiders are inclined to scan the daily news and conclude that America values political division, rich-world greed, a white top-down pecking order, open dissension, gun violence and sport.
Division and disunity can be mended but in 2020 the Divided States of America is in a bad place. In the Sun section of the Aquarian Age other powers are eager to capitalize on its internal division and attain the top spot on the world’s power ladder. America has to unite. Divided it will fall.
