The United Nations in 2017

The U.N. Charter sets out four main purposes. They are to…

    1. Maintain worldwide peace and security
    2. Develop relations between nations
    3. Foster cooperation between nations in order to solve economic, social cultural, or humanitarian international problems and
    4. Provide a forum for bringing countries together to meet the UN’s purposes and goals.

There are currently 193 countries in the General Assembly.

The difficulties facing the UN in 2016, forecast in a previous commentary, all came to pass.

We wrote; ‘2016-2017 are shaping up as tough years for the UN. Progressed MC in house 12 is trine (luck) progressed Saturn in house 4 – but it signs for suffering and hardship (Saturn) in the war torn countries – and with progressed Mercury moving to form a square aspect with progressed MC and an opposition aspect with birth chart Moon the organization will struggle to fulfill its obligations to the common people (Moon) and this will result in criticism and controversy (Mercury).

And to quote Ban Ki Moon on December 13, 2016: ‘…we have collectively failed the people of Syria.’

The UN chart progressed to December 31, 2017un-progressed

Chart data is October 24, 1945 at 4.45pm EST: 38N53; 77W01 (Washington)

The Sun, planet of power and authority, and Mercury, planet of talk, conferences, announcements and controversy, are in house 7 (the international community) but Mars, the planet of strife, aggressive force, disputes and conflict in house 4 (land, territory and natural resources) dominates the chart.

Saturn, planet of security, loss, hardship and suffering is also in house 4 (natural disasters, destructive weather events and homes and buildings).

And with Mars conjunction Saturn it’s the wars causing the greatest loss and suffering.

This chart set-up reveals just how difficult it will be for the UN to ‘maintain worldwide peace and security.’

The war situation in Syria and the Middle East is currently the organizations chief concern and with progressed Mercury opposition birth chart Mars, planet of bloodshed and brutality, in the Aquarian Age chart the situation there is destined to deteriorate even further.

Major progressed aspects formed by major progressed planets to birthchart or other major progressed planets identify structural changes taking place in the chart.

They sign for major events and developments of a type signified by the planets involved in the aspect and their house positions.

They represent energy-events that have a start, peak and finish date and major events pertaining to a specified aspect tend to occur near its peak power date.

Progressed Mercury – planet of talks, debates and controversy – in house 9 (television, internet and social media) is inconjunct progressed Saturn – planet of land, security measures, fear, failure, hardship, shortages, disease and natural disasters – in house 4 (homes and buildings).

It was perfect September 29, 2016 and finishes on June 16, 2017.

Progressed Mercury in house 9 (speeches and announcements) is opposition birth chart Moon – planet of the common people and civilians – in house 3 (roads and transport).

The aspect reaches peak power and discord on February 12, 2017 and finishes in November 2017.

Progressed Mercury – planet of summits, talks, conferences, debates, discussion papers, reports and controversy – in house 9 (speeches and announcements) is parallel (intensity) birth chart Mars – planet of conflict, rows, strife, disputes, guns, bombs and retaliation – in house 4 (homes and buildings).

It has a long time-frame and reaches peak power on March 21, 2017.

Progressed Jupiter – planet of finances, goodwill, arbitration and treaties – in house 7 (war and the international community) – is square (obstacle) birth chart Saturn – planet of natural disasters, floods, suffering, starvation and disease – in house 4 (land, homes, buildings and weather events).

The aspect reached peak power on June 5, 2013 and finishes on September 19, 2022

The UN’s response to natural disasters has been curbed by financial restraints.

Progressed Sun – planet of politics and governance – in house 10 (the administration) is parallel birth chart Moon – planet of the common people, civilians and bread and butter issues – in house 3 (roads and transport).

It reaches peak power on April 27, 2020.

And progressed Mercury in house 9 is parallel birth chart Moon in house 3.

It reaches peak power on March 8, 2017.

On March 11, 2017 progressed Sun – planet of leadership, political authority and governance – in house 10 (administration and public standing) – moves to form an inconjunct (expansion) aspect with progressed Uranus – planet of reform, unexpected developments, extremists and radical change – in house 2 (finances and financial policy).

The aspect signs for administrative change and financial reforms and reaches peak power on February 20, 2018.

And on May 23, 2017 progressed Mercury – planet of talks and controversy – in house 9 (legal matters, religion and shipping) moves to form an inconjunct aspect with birth chart Mars – planet of war, strife and rows – in house 4 (lands and territories).

It reaches peak power on February 21, 2018.

Based on the current progressions in the UN's chart we can only conclude that the United Nations in 2017 will be stretched to the limit as it strives to deal with wars, land disputes and the suffering and hardship caused by natural disasters and destructive weather events.
