October 14 – California: Wildfires (Mars) fanned by 70km/h (45mph) winds (Mercury) continue to blaze out of control forcing more people to evacuate. Forty people have died, hundreds are missing and thousands of homes have been destroyed. Governor Gerry Brown said it was ‘one of the greatest tragedies’ the state had ever faced. Mercury and Mars were conjunction the Great American eclipse; and Mars was sesquisquare the Sun in the Mars cycle.
October 12 – California: Wildfires (Mars) continue to rampage across California with the death toll climbing to 31. Hundreds of people are missing with 3,500 buildings and homes destroyed. Mars was square Saturn in the sky and the Mars cycle.
October 9 – California: Wildfires (Mars) fanned by strong winds (Mercury) rip through Californian wine country, killing at least 10 people, forcing some 20,000 residents to flee and destroying hundreds of homes and businesses. Governor Jerry Brown declares a state of emergency for Napa, Sonoma, and Yuba counties. Mercury and Mars were conjunction the Great American eclipse; and Mars was square Saturn in the sky.
October 7 – Mississippi Coast: Hurricane Nate makes landfall and slams the Mississippi Coast with destructive winds and torrential rains that flood streets and highways throughout the region. The US experienced a total eclipse of the Sun.
October 5 – Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Honduras: Tropical Storm Nate (Saturn) causes heavy rains, landslides and floods and kills at least 20 people. Roads are blocked and homes and bridges destroyed. These island nations experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
October 1 – Las Vegas, Nevada: A gunman (Mars) opens fire on concert goers killing 58 and injuring 529 in America’s worst mass shooting (murder) in modern history. Mars – the planet of guns, shootings and violence – was conjunction the eclipse and Pluto – the planet of crowds and drastic events – was sesquisquare the eclipse. The eclipse was in house 9 (the constitution and new laws).
September 23 – Mexico: A magnitude 6.2 earthquake strikes the central Mexican state of Oaxaca killing at least one person and damaging housing and infrastructure already damaged by Tuesday’s quake. Mexico experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
September 20 – Puerto Rico: Hurricane Maria makes landfall as a Category 4 storm. Effects are disastrous and the entire island loses power. Seven deaths are reported with two on Guadeloupe. Puerto Rico experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
September 19 – Mexico: A magnitude-7.1 earthquake strikes central Mexico, killing more than 200 people and toppling buildings in the heavily populated capital where rescuers are frantically searching for survivors. Sun was square the Moon-Saturn conjunction in the Sun cycle; and Mexico experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
Dominica: Hurricane Maria – a category 5 storm – makes landfall on Dominica devastating the Caribbean island. The islands of the Caribbean all experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
September 15 – hurricane Irma update: After days of destruction, death and terror millions of people throughout the Caribbean, Florida and the southeastern United States are trying to piece their lives back together.
On the Caribbean island of Barbuda the ‘damage is complete’. The island’s ambassador to the US, Ronald Sanders, said ‘For the first time in 300 years, there’s not a single living person on the island – a civilization that has existed there for over 300 years has now been extinguished.’
The death toll is 70 with a total of 33 deaths in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina, but it’s expected to rise with many people missing.
The damages cost is estimated in the billions.
September 15 – hurricane Harvey update: Massive flooding saw communities cut off for days, but state officials say that by the time Harvey smashed into the Gulf Coast Texas was prepared for the worst and the preparations paid off. (Saturn – planet of measures that prepare for the worst – was trine the eclipse.)
The death toll from Harvey is at least 82 with damages cost estimated at between $150 and $180 billion.
September 10 – Florida: Hurricane Irma makes landfall in Florida as a category 4 hurricane bringing high winds, heavy rain and warnings of storm surges. Over 3.4 million people have lost power. Mercury – the planet of wind – was conjunction the great American eclipse.
September 9 – Mexico: Hurricane Katie makes landfall in Veracruz state, Mexico. Thousands were left without power and two people died in a mudslide triggered by heavy rain. Mexico experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
September 8 – Cuba: Hurricane Irma makes landfall on Cuba with massive destruction along the north central coast of the island. Irma, the first category five hurricane to hit Cuba in decades, hit the Sabana-Camaguey Archipelago late on Friday. The death toll in the region has risen to 22. Cuba experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun. (The Bahamas were largely spared Irma’s wrath.)
The death toll from Mexico’s earthquake has risen to 58.
September 7 – The Caribbean Islands: Hurricane Irma barrels through the Caribbean passing over Hispaniola, the Turks and Caicos Islands and Puerto Rico as it heads towards The Bahamas and Cuba. There’s massive damage with at least 14 people killed. All these islands experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
Mexico: A magnitude 8.1 earthquake – the largest in a century – hits 96 kilometers (60 miles) south of Pijijiapan, Ciapas, Mexico. A huge rescue operation is under way. Mexico experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
Qatar announces it will donate USD$ 30 million (Jupiter) to help people in Texas recover from Hurricane Harvey. Jupiter was sextile (opportunity) the eclipse.
September 6 – The Caribbean Islands: Hurricane Irma (Mercury) makes first landfall on Barbuda, Saint Martin and Anguilla. At least seven people are killed. Barbuda has been wiped out with 90% of all structures destroyed. Mercury was conjunction the Great American Eclipse. These Caribbean Islands experienced a partial eclipse.
September 4 – California: 19 wildfires are burning in California including the largest ever brush fire in Los Angeles. Mars – planet of fires – was conjunction the Great American eclipse.
September 2 – Mexico: Tropical Storm Lidia lashes states in Western Mexico leaving a trail of damaged homes and roads. At least seven people, including two children, have been killed – either drowned or electrocuted. On August 25, 2017Mexico experienced a partial eclipse of the Sun.
September 1 – Texas: Floodwaters are receding, 7,000 homes are destroyed, close to 40,000 homes are heavily damaged and more than $57 million has been paid out in assistance. The death toll has risen to 42.
California wildfire: California Governor Jerry Brown issues an emergency declaration for a wildfire burning in the northern part of the state. The fire has burned 3,715 acres (1,503 hectares) and destroyed 30 homes ((Moon) in Butte County. Authorities issue evacuation orders to residents of some 500 homes in the area. The blaze is burning east of the town of Oroville, about 85 miles (137 km) north of the state capital of Sacramento. Mars was conjunction the eclipse; and Mars was opposition Moon in the Mars cycle.
August 30 – Louisiana: Tropical storm Harvey makes its second landfall in Louisiana. The suffering in Texas is unrelenting as the death toll rises to 38.
August 29 – Butte County, California: A wildfire erupts from a campfire that was started outside a designated area. Mars – the planet of wildfires – was conjunction the eclipse.
August 29/30 – Texas: The catastrophic rain and flooding continues in Houston and other parts of Texas with 22 people confirmed dead and more than 13,000 rescued. Harvey – the biggest rainstorm in the history of the continental United States – is now pivoting toward Louisiana.
August 27/28 – Texas: Tropical storm Harvey dumps record rain and causes catastrophic flooding (Saturn) as thousands flee (Saturn). Five people are reported dead.
The US Navy confirms recovery of the remains of all 10 sailors killed after the warship John S. McCain collided with a merchant vessel in waters near Singapore and Malaysia.
August 26 – Texas: Hurricane Harvey is now a tropical storm with sustained winds of 70 mph (110 kmh) and heavy rain and flooding (Saturn). It’s the strongest storm to hit Texas since 1961. Mars is trine Saturn in the Mars cycle and Saturn is semisquare Uranus in the Saturn cycle.
August 25 – Rockport, Texas: Hurricane Harvey – The Texas Storm – makes landfall at 10pm CDT as a category 4 hurricane with maximum winds of 130 mph. Mercury – the planet of wind – was conjunction the great American eclipse.

August 18 – The Whitehouse: Donald Trump fires Steve Bannon his chief strategist and a driving force behind his anti-globalisation and pro-nationalist agenda. Bannon told Bloomberg News: ‘I’m leaving the White House and going to war (Mars) for Trump against his opponents, on Capitol Hill, in the media (Mercury) and in corporate America.’ Mercury – the planet of the media – and Mars – the planet of war – are conjunction the eclipse.

August 16 – Baltimore, Maryland: Several Confederate monuments (Mars) are taken down in the city including the Stonewall Jackson and Robert E Lee Monument, Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Monument, Confederate Women’s Monument and the Roger B Taney sculpture (Mars). The US President insisted that both left- and right-wing extremists (Uranus – the planet of extremists – is trine the eclipse) resorted to violence (Mars) during a weekend rally by white nationalists (Sun-Uranus) in Virginia, and that some of those present were peacefully protesting plans to remove a Confederate monument when the upheaval began.
Taking questions from reporters in the lobby of Trump Tower in New York, Trump reverted to his initial comments blaming ‘many sides’ for Saturday’s violence in Charlottesville, a day after bowing to pressure to explicitly condemn the Ku Klux Klan, neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups (Pluto – the planet of groups – is sesquisquare the eclipse).
He lashed out (Mars) at the ‘alt-left’, suggesting that people would want to take down statues of George Washington next because he was a slave owner, and again said there was ‘blame on both sides’.

August 6 – Tulsa Tornado: More than 30 people are injured and dozens of buildings damaged when a tornado hits Tulsa causing power outages. The EF-2 tornado (Mercury) with winds of about 125 miles per hour (200 kph) snapped utility poles, downed trees, flipped cars and ripped buildings apart. Tornadoes coming in August and hitting at night are rare for Tulsa. Mercury – planet of wind – is conjunction the eclipse.
July 19 – California wildfires: The fires that started on July 8 have mushroomed to 19,400 hectares with 29 structures destroyed and 1,500 under threat. Extreme heat (Mars) and high winds (Mercury) have fanned the flames. Firefighters are currently facing “extreme and aggressive fire behavior”. A state of emergency for Mariposa County was declared on July 18. The California blaze was among 37 active large fires spread across 12 western states. Event is on-going.

July 18 – British Colombia wildfires: Currently estimated at 52,000 hectares with 45,800 people evacuated. On July 6 a blaze thought to be started by lighting was driven by high temperatures (Mars) and strong winds (Mercury). On July 9 a state of emergency was declared. At least 41 homes have been destroyed and firefighters (Mars) from Australia have been deployed to fight the blazes. There are 155 active fires still burning in the province with 15 significant blazes threatening communities. Event is on-going.
